Independent Living

Mountain State Centers for Independent Living
Mountain State Centers for Independent Living maintains a comprehensive website that serves as a virtual center for independent living. It includes a data base that provides information on services in all 55 counties in West Virginia, as well as independent living skills development modules that allow people to learn at their own pace. The "Advocacy in Action" section provides up to date information on disability legislative issues, both locally and nationally. West Virginia Legislators can be contacted directly through this section. During the WV Legislative session, this section keeps current information on legislation impacting the disability community, and provides information on when to contact Legislators regarding specific issues. There is also a "Disability Community Calendar" that provides information on conferences, meetings, and events throughout the state. The community is invited to submit information for their upcoming events to the "Disability Community Calendar". The website provides contact information for the other centers for independent living in West Virginia. The website changes on a regular basis and welcomes input in order to better meet the needs of the disability community in West Virginia.
